Conference Announcement: Working Her Out to be Presented at ACA National Conference
We’re excited to announce that Abi Cook-Singh and Dr Karen Cosgrove from Working It Out Now will be presenting at the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) National Conference next week, on Friday 14 June, at the Adelaide Convention Centre. This presentation is part of Changing Landscapes, a three-day conference bringing together leading voices in counselling, education, and advocacy.
Their session, titled Working Her Out – Mothers- and Daughters-in-Law: The Dynamic and Its Impact in Family Farm Business, draws on their published longitudinal research exploring one of the most significant, yet often unspoken—relationships in farming families.
Through the lens of both professional expertise and lived experience, Abi and Karen examine how this intergenerational dynamic shapes communication, identity, succession, and decision-making within multi-generational farm enterprises. They reflect on the importance of truth-telling and how vulnerability, when recognised and supported, can become a powerful source of strength, connection, and resilience.
Abi and Karen are honoured to be part of this year’s program and are looking forward to connecting with practitioners, educators, and advocates from across the sector. Their presentation contributes to the broader conversation around family dynamics, rural mental health, and sustainable multigenerational families and businesses.
We’ll be sharing highlights and reflections after the event—stay tuned!
